What are your fees? |
We offer two ways to pay for our services and we encourage our customers to think about the payment that suits them best.
1. No Refund No Fee
Our most popular service is our 'No Refund, No Fee' plan. There are no upfront payments to be made and we only charge 13% +vat of your final tax refund for our standard refund service. Under normal circumstances there are no extra payments, or levies. However, some additional services are chargable, please see the fees table below. All our filing, postage and processing costs are accounted for within the standard refund service charge of 13% +vat. See fees table below.
Remember: If you receive nothing, neither do we. It is in everyone's interest to get you the best possible refund. Minimum fee does apply.
2. Fixed Fee
We also provide a fixed payment offer for customers wishing to keep 100% of their final tax refund. This offer has an upfront payment of £75 + VAT and ensures you get the same service as our 'No Refund, No Fee' customers. If your refund is succesful, then you keep 100% of your tax refund. Please be aware that if there is no tax refund issued from HMRC, the upfront payment to The Taxation People is not refunded to you.
Our aim is to meet the needs of every customer and we certainly hope that one of our payment options above suits you.

How long will it take to get my money? |
After you have returned your pack by post with all the relevant identification, it takes us around 2-3 business days to prepare your paperwork. During this time we will be checking your documents, preparing and finalising the remainder of the taxation forms and sending the completed package to the tax office.
Once the tax office has your paperwork, it usually takes between 8-12 weeks for it to be filed and the refund to be issued. The turnover time varies throughout the tax year depending on how busy the tax office is.
As soon as we get confirmation of your refund, we will be in touch.

What are your opening hours and how can I contact you? |
The best way to contact our agents is by email. We have helpful email links on the side of most of the pages on the site and our reply time is the quickest by email. However, we also have a phone number and answer service which is available 24 hours a day. Our agents aim to get back to any voicemails left at the earliest convenience.

What happens after all the work is complete? |
Customer satisfaction is a major aim within the Taxation People and to ensure that you are happy with our services, we would ask you to complete a short Customer Satisfaction Survey. We hope to develop a page on our site with customer testimonials and we'd appreciate feedback on our services so we can improve further.

Who can claim a tax refund? |
Anyone who has overpaid tax and worked within the UK can claim their money back.
Our customers have very different reasons for claiming a tax refund. You could be eligible if you have been made redundant, worked part time, had to use an emergency tax code (BR), you're leaving the country, you have expenses, you're a student or you have worked less than a full tax year.
Please email us if you have any questions you need answering about your eligibility for a tax refund.

I have already left the UK, claim I still claim? |
Yes, download the pack, fill it in and sign as appropriate and post it to our P.O. Box here in the UK, just as you would if you were still a UK resident. We will need some additional information from you if you have left the UK, but this will be explained in the pack. We can transfer funds to an international account but this may incur additional processing fees. Email us using the link at the top of the page if you have any questions about this process.

When can I submit a claim? |

2010/11 Tax Year: (April 6th 2010 - April 5th 2011) This is the current tax year and the claim cannot be sent to us until the end of the tax year in April. However, we advise our customers to prepare your identification and download the pack now so you are prepared for the start of April this year.
2003/04-2009/10 Tax Years (2004- April 5th 2010) If you have overpaid tax during this time you can start your refund today. Follow the links at the top of the page to begin your refund claim NOW.
TOP |
How many years can I claim for? |
You can claim as far back as six years. Currently this will take us back to the 2003/04 tax year which started on 5th April 2003.
TOP |
What will I need in order to claim? |
The forms and paperwork within the tax refund pack will vary depending on your personal circumstances. Fill in all the forms and questions honestly and accurately as this will form the basis of our refund. We need you to enclose your P45 and P60 for the period you are claiming. Send the forms and the original P45s and P60s along with the requested identification to us and we can start the process.
If you have lost your P45 or P60 please contact us as we can obtain this information in the event of the originals being unobtainable.
TOP |
What are P45's, P60's and why do I need to send the originals? |
A P60 is a statement given to employees at the end of the tax year in April. It shows your total earnings and tax paid over that tax year. Please note that if you have more than one job you should have a P60 for each employment.
A P45 is a statement given at the end of your employment. It details your total earnings as well as the total tax and national insurance paid during the employment. Please enclose all original documents for the tax year you are claiming for.
Please note that the Inland Revenue will not accept copies. As mentioned above, if you have misplaced the orginals, please let us know as we have a service which can gather this information on your behalf.
